About me
I prepare teacher candidates in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's educator preparation program. I have been in the field of special education for 27 years including working in higher education at Henderson State prior to joining the UALR School of Education, serving as a special education teacher in both the Little Rock and Pulaski County School Districts, and providing special education consultancy for an Arkansas Department of Education grant implemented by the Easterseals Arkansas Outreach Program. I have worked alongside adult learners and K-12 students with various disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, multiple disabilities, and dual sensory impairments. I earned her doctorate degree from The University of Memphis in instructional and curriculum leadership with a special education concentration and my M.S.E in special education from the University of Central Arkansas. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) and active on the boards of The Center for Exceptional Families (TCFEF), the Arkansas Subdivision on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (DADD) and the Arkansas Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). I consider myself a continuous learner alongside my students. I primarily do research in the areas of school team collaboration, inclusive practices, intersectionality, and specialize in training and developing resources to help families, caregivers, and educators provide sexuality and relationship education to youth with disabilities.
