About me
Taylor James is the CDC Surveillance Coordinator at the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE/DESE), where he has served since 2024. In this role, Taylor supports two CDC‑funded programs—the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), administered in odd‑numbered years, and School Health Profiles, conducted in even‑numbered years—helping provide high‑quality, actionable student health data to inform health education and decision‑making across Arkansas schools.
Conference attendees are encouraged to connect with Taylor about student health data, surveillance‑informed strategies, and using state and federal resources to strengthen school health initiatives.
Outside of work, Taylor remains active in public service as a volunteer firefighter and first responder in Maynard, Arkansas, and as a BLS/CPR and First Aid instructor. Alongside his family, he also supports foster care efforts in Northeast Arkansas by helping provide safe, stable environments for children in the community—reflecting a commitment to strengthening health and safety both in schools and communities.
