About me
Jeanie Wilcoxon is a fourth‑grade math teacher in the Pulaski County Special School District with 25 years of experience in education. In recognition of her impact in the classroom and her dedication to the teaching profession, Wilcoxon was named the 2025 Arkansas Teacher of the Year. Her students have consistently demonstrated exceptional academic growth, ranking among the top performers statewide on standardized assessments.
Wilcoxon’s instructional focus includes increasing student engagement in mathematics, developing conceptual understanding, and strengthening problem‑solving skills. Her work extends beyond the regular classroom through math clubs that emphasize coding and the application of mathematical principles in real‑world contexts.
Throughout her career, Wilcoxon has served as a classroom teacher, tutor, mentor teacher, and coach. She has taught students in Arkansas and Louisiana, including time with the Iberville Parish School District in Plaquemine, Louisiana, and the Dumas School District, before joining the Pulaski County Special School District in 2011. In addition to her classroom work, she served as a high school volleyball assistant coach for several years, further demonstrating her commitment to supporting students both academically and personally.
Wilcoxon is a graduate of Dumas High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Secondary Physical Education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and completed post‑baccalaureate coursework in elementary education at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She is also a member of the Order of Omega leadership honor society. During her service as Arkansas Teacher of the Year, she has worked statewide to promote the teaching profession and to share effective instructional practices that strengthen student learning across Arkansas.
